Mission Statement
The Elizabeth Sherman Reese Chapter, located in Lancaster, Ohio, actively follows the three objectives of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR): educational, patriotic, and historical. With 100+ members living in Fairfield, Hocking, and Perry Counties, our chapter is proud of its endeavors in promoting its motto of "God, Home, and Country." We are the fastest growing chapter in the State of Ohio.
Chapter Activities / Projects
Presenting -
- 2 Community Service Awards to deserving local citizens
- 11 DAR Good Citizen Awards to graduating Seniors in the following High Schools: Canal Winchester, Fairfield Union, Lancaster, Pickerington, Amanda-Clearcreek
- Christopher Columbus Essay Medals to 4 high school students
- American Flags and Ohio Burgee to local schools and groups
- Flag certificates to individuals for proper display of the Flag of the U.S.A.
- Constitution Week Information for Schools. (Mayor David Smith proclaims Constitution Week on City Hall steps 2007 on right)
Honoring -
- An Outstanding American History Teacher
Donating -
- Toys to a local food pantry for Christmas
- Clothes to the Thrift Shop at Tamassee DAR School
Holding -
- Annual Youth Recognition and Awards Ceremony at Wagnall's Memorial in Lithopolis, Ohio, to honor local youth
- Annual Auction to raise funds to support our DAR Schools, located in Tamassee, South Carolina, and Grant, Alabama, which work with abandoned, disadvantaged, and abused children
Supporting -
- Veterans at the VAMC located in Chillicothe, Ohio, by supplying personal items
- Men and women serving on board the USS John C. Stennis, as part of the NSDAR's Patriot Project, our National project to help in the War Against Terrorism: by signing cards, sending video tapes, and giving monetary donations
- Genealogy workshop, which was open to the public at the Fairfield County Library
- Veterans by collecting stamps
Promoting -
- Excellence in teaching history by honoring an Outstanding American History Teacher
- Constitution Week by distributing Constitution Week bookmarks to local schools and libraries
- Conservation by collecting used ink cartridges and donating them to Tamassee DAR School
Organizing -
- A local Children of the American Revolution Society (C.A.R.) in Lancaster, Ohio
